Information for Donors:
Love Truck does not do pick-ups. Please do not contact Love Truck to arrange a pick-up. If you need to have items picked up, you may consider calling St. Vincent de Paul at 214-373-7837 or at svdpdallas.org.
Love Truck can accept: most items that are clean and in working condition.
Love Truck cannot accept: computers, computer parts or accessories, printers, fax machines, mattresses, seasonal decorations, or non flat-panel televisions (no tube tv's). This list may change at any time based on the ministries Love Truck supports.
If you are donating heavy items, please be prepared to load them into our truck yourself. If you are unwilling to do this then you should consider calling to arrange a pick up at your home (see information above).
Remember, do not leave donations unless the garage is open and attended by volunteers.
Information for Volunteers:
Love Truck is always in need of cleared adult volunteers to help supervise the collection weekends (shift leaders). The collection weekends are described more below. Shift Leaders volunteer for the same amount of time as other volunteers but commit ahead of time to being at the collection for a specific shift. If you are interested in becoming a shift leader, please e-mail or call us at the above contact information.
The basic volunteer opportunity that Love Truck has is our monthly collection weekend. Once a month, we sort donated food, clothing and household items for delivery to various agencies in Plano and Dallas.
There is some labor involved and we have shifts set up that last 2.5 hours but we'll take any time you have to offer. The collection is always the 2nd full weekend of every month from 9 am to 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday (regular shift are from 9 to 11:30 and 11:30 to 2:00).
Regular volunteers can be added to our e-mailing list so they receive a reminder. There is no official sign-up, drop-ins are always welcome and shift leaders are always there to guide new volunteers. There is no need to contact us to ask if we have room for you to volunteer. We will never turn volunteers away.
Children are welcome but children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. If a child under 13 is dropped off we will ask them to call their parents to come get them. Children 13 and over will be supervised by an adult while they are volunteering but Love Truck shift leaders will not be responsible for checking them in or out during the collection.
