Prayers and Squares is a chapter of an international quilt ministry. We are an interfaith outreach ministry that combines the gift of prayer with a handmade quilt.
The purpose of our ministry is to promote prayer through the gift of a quilt.
It’s not about the quilt, but rather the prayers tied into the quilt.
A prayer quilt is the visible & tangible evidence of faith in God.
The prayer ties are the knots that hold our fabric of life together.
Recipients of our quilts include:
- UTSW Medical Center
- Children’s Craniofacial Organization
- Nursing homes
- VA hospital
- Children’s hospital
- Individuals encountering a difficult journey in their lives
- Birth Choice center
Our ministry also participates in many parish events:
- Women’s Club Art & Craft Bazaar
- Men’s Club Casino Night
- Fall Fest
- Lone Rose Sunday
- Christmas Angel tree
- Mardi Gras
It is not necessary to know how to quilt as there are many ways you can contribute your time & talent:
We meet every Tuesday for a workshop in rooms 107 & 109 in the FFC
- Sew prayer ties into a quilt
- Help piece together a top
- Hand sew a binding
- Attach a label
