This ministry is comprised of men and women who care for all the physical maintenance needs of the church’s liturgical items. Some of the typical tasks performed by Altar Guild members are: spending several hours sewing at home to make Baptism bibs; sewing other church articles on an as-needed basis; spending 30 minutes a week at church dusting, shining or cleaning specific liturgical items; washing the albs or taking vestments to the cleaners; taking care of the candles or straightening the books in the pews; washing or ironing altar linens once every six weeks (nine times per year); watering the potted plants and removing wilted leaves on a weekly basis. Many of these jobs are shared on a rotating schedule.
