The three parishes (Seton, St. Mark and Prince of Peace) continued working on the recycle house on February 8th. A recycle house is one that is bought back from the previous owner that needs extensive work – basically, the insides are taken down to the drywall. This house is located in the Douglass Community in East Plano.
The volunteers worked on a number of different jobs:
The bathtub enclosure for the master bath was taken out.
The floor was scraped of glue from the previous flooring.
All the walls and ceilings were washed of the dirt that had accumulated over the years.
A first coat of primer paint was applied to all the walls and ceilings. We were even able to apply a second coat to some of the rooms. This was definitely needed as most of the rooms had been painted with dark colors.
There is going to be a one to three week halt on the volunteer work at the house while Habitat personnel plan for the next phase of the work that needs to be done.
