My parents moved to the Plano area in the mid 1970’s & we became part of the
SEAS family at that time. Our parish has come a long way since celebrating Mass
in the early days at Haggard Middle School. I am excited for the upcoming
rebuilding of our church. The plans look amazing!! I can’t wait to see the end
Results!
As an adult, I went through a divorce & distanced myself from my faith. After
visiting many nondenominational churches, I realized that there is no place like
home in our Catholic faith! After much discernment, I made the decision to go
through the Annulment process. I received support & assistance with this process
through the Family Life Ministry here at Seton. I got involved with the Rebuilding
(After Divorce) Ministry, found great healing, & made lifelong friends! I became a
“revert” & returned to the Lord & our faith with my heart ready to serve & get
involved. I am so thankful for the many wonderful ministries at Seton and the
amazing community life. These opportunities have helped me grow in my faith. I
began a life-long journey that has changed my life. I will be forever grateful!
Through the years, I have been part of the Women’s Club & their amazing Fall
Bazaar, Seton Singles Over 40, Living Your Strengths, Seton Service Days, & many
scripture studies & book talks. I have met many wonderful members of this parish
that I now call family. Prior to the pandemic, I was active as an Extraordinary
Minister of Holy Communion, served the Altar, and with great humility, have
brought the Eucharist to the sick in hospitals and their homes.
My biggest joy, however, has been my participation in the Children’s Ministry. I
started teaching Faith Formation for Kindergarten in 2008. I was intimidated
because I don’t have kids of my own & never taught children before! And, I felt
very far removed from my own faith formation many years ago. But, when the
Lord calls, He provides! I was blessed with great support from wonderful people
in the Children’s Ministry department & the materials they provided. And, the
teacher became the student! I learned more about life, my faith & loving God
from these littles ones & their families, than I could have ever imagined. My heart
is full! Another surprising joy came from volunteering in 2008 for Vacation Bible
School. Now, I can’t get enough of VBS! I look forward to it every single Summer
now! It is SO MUCH FUN to see the faces of the children light up as they learn about Jesus & the many stories in the Bible. It has encouraged me to open my bible more & go even deeper into my faith. I love seeing the bible stories through
the eyes of the children! I am forever grateful for my SEAS family & the many
opportunities for spiritual growth in our parish. I love being Catholic & I love St.
Elizabeth Ann Seton! I can’t wait to see what our future holds with the new
building & many opportunities for growth! Let’s GOOOOO! Please let us start!
