I moved from Houston where I spent 17 years of my life to the Plano area summer of 2008 and after about 3 months of ‘church shopping’ I came to the 1:15 Mass here at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. The welcoming parishioners and the priest giving the homily that day hit home, oh and bonus, the awesome choir, convinced me that this would be my new home parish.
God has continuously been working in my life since I’ve been here at Seton. I met my first Seton friends when I involved myself in YMASS now Catalyst. One of my new friends invited me to be a sponsor for RCIA and although I was hesitant, I said yes. I loved it and continued being a sponsor for the next 5 years. I realized that as a “re-vert” to the Catholic Church I had so much to offer those who were coming into the faith. RCIA has such a great team, I love them all.
Through those years with RCIA I met some of my closest friends who would invite me to be a part of several different ministries. I served as a faith formation teacher for several years and joined the 1:15 choir. I’ve volunteered with Bella House, Supper Club Ministry, and Seton Service Days. I went on my first ACTS retreat in 2012 and as I’ve served on many more throughout the years, both at Seton and with other parishes I’ve found it to be one of my favorite ministries. Our Lord opens my eyes with a deeper understanding of His love for us, and of all the graces he continuously pours on us in different ways through each retreat I serve on.
As a part of the 1:15 choir and being involved with the ACTS ministry it has been a blessing to be able to share the gift of music. Although growing up I was never a part of any choir I have always loved singing and I feel I can hear God speaking to me through song, so to be able to share that with others has been a grace. I even learned how to play guitar a couple of years ago to help share the gift of music.
I love it here at Seton. My friends here are like extended family and the love here at this parish is the Love of God.
