We have not had a Seton build day since our last one on April 8th; however, we wanted to let everyone know where we are at in the build process. The next major construction project is the building of retaining walls for the duplex. If you have been at the build, you know there is quite a drop off from one side and the back of the duplex to level ground. Habitat for South Collin County will be contracting with a skilled trade business to build these retaining walls. Until these retaining walls are built, the exterior landscaping cannot be completed.
In addition to the landscaping, there is still some interior work to be completed (e.g., installation of interior cabinets in the bathrooms and kitchens); however, because there are other organizations involved in the build, we are not sure when or if there will be additional Seton build day(s). Therefore, please check the on-line sign-up sheet during the week for additional work day(s).
Since we are close to completion, a dedication date has been tentatively scheduled for May 21st. We will let everyone know once the date has been firmed up.
We are not sure if we will need lunches for build dates this year; however, if you (individual or business) are interested in donating food/lunches/drinks during this or future builds, please contact Jessica Vieira at
Jessica.vieira@acpen.com.
The Seton Habitat Team, at its most recent meeting, began planning for Seton's third build. This will involve a period of fund raising efforts followed by the construction of another Seton-sponsored house. Any parishioner who is interested in becoming more involved with the Habitat Team is invited to attend a Team meeting. The next one is Thursday, May 18, at 7:00 pm in room 116 in the Faith Formation Center.
Go by and look at the project at 1133 G Avenue in East Plano (down the street from the Douglass Community Center). It will surely inspire you to join us!
