Seton Habitat Build Update # 6: January 28, 2017 & February 4, 2017

Seton’s second Habitat for Humanity build continued with our tenth and eleventh build days on January 28 ^th and February 4th.  The weather continues to cooperate for both workdays (from the low 40’s° to the mid 60’s°).  We can’t ask for anything better for late January and early February.
 
During the week prior to the January 28 ^th build day, water and sewer line trenches were dug for both houses.  One of the tasks, given to a select few, was the “privilege” of filling in the trenches.  Those familiar with the clay soil in Plano can appreciate the challenge of that task.  Also on the list was working on the exterior of the house.  This primarily included finishing up the wood trim on the remaining windows and starting to put on the siding.  We also began to clean up the back yard with the removal of concrete, rocks, trash, and dead tree limbs.
 
Between our two build dates, the skilled trades have been working on the plumbing and electrical wiring as well as installing the heating/air conditioning unit and ductwork.  On the February 4th build day, the volunteers and crew chiefs continued to work on installing the soffits, siding and caulking the exterior. 
 
In addition to the Seton volunteers who helped on both build days, the Seton Habitat Team wants to thank the following for their food and drinks:
 

• Liz and Peter Maverick for suppling an excellent homemade lunch of sloppy joes, baked beans, chips, drinks and a desert on the 28^th. 
• The Heil family for supplying a lunch of pulled pork sandwiches, and homemade side dishes (baked beans, potato salad, and coleslaw) and drinks on the 4^th.
• Starbucks at Spring Creek near Central Expressway (Rt. 75) for donating the coffee on the 4th. 

 
 
If you are interested in donating food/lunches/drinks during the build, please contact Jessica Vieira at Jessica.vieira@acpen.com.  Seton parishioners paid for or provided wonderful lunches for the volunteers during the first build in 2015, and several are signed up for this year as well.
 
For all existing and new volunteers – please check the on-line sign-up sheet during the week.  Sometimes there are changes (people cancel, Habitat requires additional volunteers, or additional work dates added) that require Seton to modify its scheduling requirements.
