Seton’s second Habitat for Humanity build continued with our eleventh and twelfth build days on February 11
th and 18
th. The weather on both days was unusually great with temperatures from the 60’s to the low 80’s.
The primary work on the 11
th consisted of installing the siding, the trim around the siding, and caulking around the siding and trim. The installation of the siding involved a lot of precise measurements and cutouts for outdoor faucets, electrical work, and roof lines. For those of us who were less than precise, caulking helped out. Other work included sheetrocking storage rooms, removing chunks of concrete and rock from the yard, and leveling out, as best we could, the front yard.
Work on the 18
th included completing the installation of the siding and trim and continuing to caulk. (Caulking seemed to have developed a life of its own in which one day, it will be done.)
Seton has an off build day on February 25
th and our next scheduled build day is March 4
th. There is still a lot to do on the house and Habitat for South Collin County (H-SCC) is in the process of assigning additional build dates; therefore, please check the on-line sign-up sheet during the week. Sometimes there are changes (people cancel, H-SCC requires additional volunteers, or additional work dates added) that require Seton to modify its scheduling requirements.
In addition to the Seton volunteers who helped on both build days, the Seton Habitat Team wants to thank the following for their food and drinks:
St. Mark’s for supplying a delicious lunch of chili, ice tea and various deserts on the 11th.
A parishioner provided a great lunch of sandwiches on the 18th.
Starbucks on Spring Creek, just west of Coit provided the morning coffee and snacks on both dates.
We are in need of lunches for future build dates; therefore, if you (individual or business) are interested in donating food/lunches/drinks during the build, please contact Jessica Vieira at
Jessica.vieira@acpen.com. Several Seton parishioners have paid for or provided wonderful lunches for the volunteers during the first build in 2015, and some have already provided food for this year as well.
Go by and look at the project at 1133 G Avenue in East Plano (down the street from the Douglass Community Center). It will surely inspire you to join us!
