We received a new decree from Bishop Burns, this updated decree gives pastors the discretion to determine proper gathering and seating requirements. In his decree the Bishop stated that there is no specific capacity requirement (either minimum or maximum), nor is there any requirement to leave every other row empty during Mass. The pastors should also establish a space that provides a fully “socially distanced environment” for those with concerns about gathering.
All Catholics in the Diocese of Dallas remain dispensed from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and other holy days of Obligation. The dispensation remains until further notice.
Starting this Sunday, to accommodate more parishioners at Mass while in the church:
Enter through the Main Entrance only
All sections in the church will be open for seating, except for section D, which is near the Choir area.
You are welcome to seat yourselves, but please leave two empty seats between you and anyone that is not a member of your household.
Section D, which is near the Choir area will continue to have every other pew reserved for social distancing.
The “Worship Aid” will continue to be in the bulletin.
The Faithful who are present at Mass who may feel uncomfortable in receiving Holy Communion due to COVID concerns, or those are participating virtually, are free to forego Holy Communion, and if they wish to make an act of Spiritual Communion.
Those receiving Holy Communion are encouraged to receive communion on the hand.
At this time the Sign of Peace remains suspended.
Ushers will will no longer dismiss you, please leave in an orderly manner.
We are excited that more people are coming to Mass on Sundays and weekdays. This new decree is a good first step in welcoming people back home again!
