Children in 2nd thru 5th grade may sing in this choir. No previous training required. Older students take on more leadership in the Children’s Choir, stewarding the little ones and helping with cantor duties. Those in middle school are welcome to sing with the Children’s Choir, and are eligible to join the Youth Choir as well. They can move into the Youth Choir at any time, once they feel ready to make the transition. Members may even participate in BOTH choirs each week. Children in 1st Grade are welcome to join the Children’s Choir if they have an older brother or sister in the choir.
The Children's Choir has sung at Children's Liturgies throughout the school year, and several other services that are of interest to children. This year the choir will focus on preparing for Christmas Eve. Eventually the schedule will include up to nine Children's Liturgies during the school year taking place once a month at the Saturday 5:00 pm mass; the service for the Blessing of the Animals in October; Mass on Christmas Eve; and an Ash Wednesday prayer service. The choir takes a break during the summer.
