Beth Ann and Jamie Apt
We believe that Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton is holy ground and the Holy Spirit is ever-present here. We moved to Plano in 1989. We were close to being “picked off” by other Christian churches which could have been perceived as more “popular.” We were lukewarm infants in our faith and searching for a faith-filled community when we found Seton. We were confirmed via RCIA, our babies were raised here, our social network is here, we serve in many ministries and ultimately, we’ll go to our rest right here in our columbarium. There is something radically special about this place and the people who belong to this community. We are “blessed to be a blessing” through our relationship with our parish.
We have been transformed in all aspects of our lives. In short, this is our home. When we go on vacation we come back and say, “Gee, it’s good to be home.” We don’t mean our house – we mean back at Mass at Seton. This is our home and you are our family. Do you know the reason? We invested. We bought in, committed, studied, served – our time, talent and treasure – and the community embraced us.
If you are new to Seton, we welcome you. If you find Seton to be large and overwhelming we invite you to choose one ministry or organization to get yourself rooted. There are over 90 ministries and organization from which to be involved. If you do know where to best use your talents - we suggest attending the Living Your Strengths class to find out how God made you uniquely you. Once you’re involved at Seton stand back and watch your family sprout and grow.
We are called to give of our time, talent and treasure. Time – we spend with God in Mass, prayer, The Word, song and praise. Talent – the special way God created us to serve others in our work, worship and play. Treasure – where we spend the first fruits of our labor whether it’s supporting missions, Catholic Radio, Bella House, Heroic Media, Minnie’s Food Pantry or the Samaritan Inn.
You’ve heard the phrase, “the more you give, the more you get?” It is absolutely true and we believe we are just getting warmed up! We have been abundantly blessed when we invested our time, talent and treasure. We invite you to join us so that we, together, can be “blessed to be a blessing!” Come join us. Serve next to us. Pray with us. Laugh with us. Worship with us.
