The Lord taught the disciples to “greet others with peace.” Our purpose as disciples is summarized by that statement. We are called to bring the Peace of God into the lives of other people. We first need to possess that peace inside ourselves. Only then can we effectively share it with others. It is a constant challenge in our spiritual lives to remain a people of peace. Our prayer life, that is our conversation with God, should deepen our sense of peace. Our relationships with others should be peaceful, loving, cooperative, respectful and tolerant. We should be forgiving and patient. We need to possess right and loving intentions in what we do, as this will produce the fruit of peace.
In our worship, we use the expression of “Peace be with you.” This expression reminds us to be a people of peace and reconciliation.
