Abdullah completed high school in 2007 in Kabul, Afghanistan. In 2009 he completed his Associate’s degree in Business Administration of Finance. Then went on to complete his Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Language and Literature in 2013 at Kabul University in Kabul Afghanistan. He also completed a six month course in Java (programming). Abdullah’s first job was with the US Army in Kabul Afghanistan as a linguist/instructor from 2006 until 2015. When the U. S. Army started pulling out of Afghanistan, the Abed family felt that they might be harmed by militants for his service as an interpreter. Since he served in the US Military the family was able to immigrate to the United States. Upon arrival in the States, Abdullah was hired full time at Chipotle Mexican Grill where he was promoted to a Manager’s Position after only a short time. Since 2018, he started working for Jack Henry & Associates as an Asset Protection Administrator. Due to Abdullah’s knowledge, skills and hard work he has been promoted several times. Abdullah is always striving to learn and grow, so he is currently working to get a Master’s Degree in International Political Economics. He hopes to serve mankind around the world.
Sweeta finished her high school in Kabul Afghanistan in 2010. She and Abdullah met and were married April 2011. Since moving to the U.S., Sweeta has been attending classes to obtain her GED Diploma/Certification. She has been studying to become proficient in English.
The couple has two children, so they have decided that Sweeta should stay home and raise their children. Their son Abdulrahman “Imran” is three years old, and does not currently go to school. He is in love with cartoon characters, especially Spiderman and Fire Ninja. He engages his dad in play fighting whenever possible. Imran is looking forward to having a back yard, so he can have a puppy dog as a playmate. Their daughter, Zainab is seven years old. She is in 2nd grade at Salam Academy in Richardson. She cannot wait to have her own bedroom where she can display her artwork on the walls and have a place to play with her collection of Barbie dolls. She loves her teachers and would like to become a teacher when she grows up. She and Sweeta love flowers, and look forward to gardening in their new yard.
The Abed family is thankful to Habitat for the opportunity of home ownership. They have been working hard to complete the required Sweat Equity hours. The family chose a rehabbed Habitat house in Plano as their new home. Abdullah and Sweeta plan to create a patio in their backyard, so they have an area to can cook Kabobs. They are very excited to be homeowners and look forward to playing volleyball and gardening together in their own yard.
