Go first to the lost sheep of the House of Israel. Matthew 10:6
What are the conditions in which we live that need to change? Evaluating the environment in which we live is an important step in moving forward. The instruction to the disciples was to go first to the “lost sheep” of the House of Israel. This indicates that these people should be given priority in hearing the message. The disciples were called to start with the people close at hand. Not everything we do needs to be dramatic, far away or high flown. Sometimes we need to look around us and see what needs to be supported, changed or informed.
The Good Lord was concerned for his own people. We should be as well. His own people needed to understand what God had revealed. Followers of Christ need to be examples of faith, concern, justice and responsibility to those around them. If people have lost their way, then we should provide an opportunity for them to see the way God has revealed. We need to help people find their way back to a meaningful relationship with God. The best place to start is right at home.
