Seton’s second Habitat for Humanity build continued with our seventeenth build day on April 8
th. Since our last workday on March 25
th, the interior of the entire duplex has been painted and some of the flooring has been installed. In addition, there was touch-up painting on the exterior of the duplex and work started on building two exterior sheds for the homeowners.
The work on the 8
th included more touch-up painting on the exterior, installing baseboard molding in some of the rooms, removing fencing, and working on one of the two exterior sheds.
In addition to the Seton volunteers who helped on the build day, the Seton Habitat Team wants to thank
i Fratelli (2208 Dallas Parkway, Plano) for providing a great pizza lunch and a parishioner for suppling the morning coffee. In addition, we would like to recognize Jan Sloan who is one of our most faithful volunteers. Jan staffs the table for the morning sign-up of the volunteers, assists in laying out the lunch spreads, and most importantly, brings her homemade cookies for dessert.
We are still in need of lunches for future build dates; therefore, if you (individual or business) are interested in donating food/lunches/drinks during the build, please contact Jessica Vieira at
Jessica.vieira@acpen.com.
Go by and look at the project at 1133 G Avenue in East Plano (down the street from the Douglass Community Center). It will surely inspire you to join us! For more information, to volunteer for the Habitat Team, or to be a build volunteer go to the Habitat for Humanity section of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton website (
www.setonparish.org/habitat).
We are waiting to hear from Habitat for South Collin County to let us know about our next build day(s) as there is still additional interior work to be done on the duplex as well as exterior landscaping. Therefore, please check the on-line sign-up sheet during the week for additional work day(s) and changes to Seton’s scheduled work days.
