Bob was transferred to Plano from Collierville, TN in November 2001. This move was very hard for my parents - a short drive from us. They loved seeing our daughter Heather frequently. Our two son, Bobby and Brian, are married and have their own families. My parents wanted the best for all of us but the goodbyes were hard. We were excited about a new beginning in a new place and were encouraged about a new church and people we would meet along the way.
As the movers were in Collierville, our son Bobby, who worked with Southwest Airlines called to talk to his father. (There is a reason for this story) SWA was opening up a new position for Bobby in Dallas. He wanted his dad’s advice. Bob suggested that he go with God’s plan. We moved into our house on November 12th, 2011. Bobby started here with SWA on Dec 3, 2011. In Plano, he stayed with us and traveled home on weekends. Their house sold in March and they moved here.
In the meantime we were led to SEAS; attended our first Mass on Thanksgiving. The Mass was a new experience of magnitude, impact, and singing. People in front of us greeted us with the sign of peace. We stated we just moved here from TN. They were friendly and happily welcomed us to Seton; we were overwhelmed with kindness. It was at that moment that SEAS became our new church. We wanted to meet people and get involved. Newcomer dinners were the beginning. I often heard many times how people moved here and had no family close by. Once they stepped foot into our church and engaged in activities, the largeness of our church became their instant close 2nd family. Being involved is a blessing too. We were chairmen of the Gala. Women’s Club and Bible Study are two of many things that I am involved in.
After our son’s family moved here, our sons’ wife found out she had breast cancer. We were able to be there, help with their girls in many capacities. After time, Beth was back on her feet again. God has a plan in all of our lives. My parents said over and over “Now we know why you were transferred to Plano. Our Lord wanted you there to support and reach out to our Loeb family. We miss you, but you are meant to be there.” Sometimes it is hard to understand but if we stop, listen, pray and act we will follow our Lord’s guidance.
Our son Brian and his family live in Arkansas—not too far away. Our daughter Heather suffered a stroke at 1 year of age at Christmas time. God, faith and prayer strengthened us. Doctors, friends, Bob and I witnessed many miracles pertaining to Heather along this journey. She is an inspiration and enlightens everyone. Heather has taught us how to live and love. Volunteering for Children’s Ministry as a resource aide and as a classroom aide, Women’s Club member, and working at Jason’s Deli are all a part of who she is. She stays busy.
If we pursue what God has in mind for us, use our strengths and talents, we will be the best that we can be. He will enlighten our minds and our hearts. Happiness abounds. Our lives have been enriched with God’s grace and love. Live and aspire for more, and make a difference.
Bob and I will celebrate our 49th anniversary in June. God’s love for us is never ending. We are blessed!!!
