Jim was a true Louisiana man. He loved duck hunting and spicey food! After high school, not sure what to do in life, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served honorably for four years. After his duty in Okinawa, Japan, he was deployed to Vietnam where he completed his tour and returned home Christmas 1968 to the music “Little Drummer Boy” playing over the transport planes public address. Now ready to complete his education, Jim entered Northeast Louisiana University and obtained his B.S. in building construction in only 3 years and frequently on the dean's list. That began his construction career.

Patti Ann Putnicki was born on June 20, 1959 and died on November 25, 2023 after a six-year battle with lung cancer. At her core, Patti was a writer who passionately loved what she did. She was a storyteller with a true fascination with the human condition, and a believer that everyone had a story to tell.
She was also a self-admitted, extremely late bloomer.
In her early years, Patti was the class nerd, the smart girl, with few, if any social skills, a bad cowlick, a self-deprecating sense of humor and an extreme shyness that she most definitely overcorrected later in life. As an adult, she went from “no eye contact whatsoever” to “never met a stranger,” evidenced by her ability to learn the life story of every waiter, grocery store checker and, frankly, any human being who happened to be standing within 20 feet of her line of sight.
During her late 30s-early 40s, she really came into her own, ditching Corporate America to start her freelance writing business, and finally realizing that her uniqueness was her superpower. Patti was still very much a nerd, but, by then, she proudly owned it. Her one regret in life was that she didn’t appreciate the value of being a unicorn earlier on. Lesson learned.
Although Patti never found the man of her dreams, she was one of the happiest single people on earth—amassing the most amazing, most diverse, interesting array of friends that anyone could hope for. They were her hand-chosen, extended family, and the source of so much love, joy and laughter in her life. (The latter of which was often fueled by wine, bad golf, bad decisions, or some combination of the three.)
Her blood relatives weren’t too shabby either, even though most left the earth a long time ago. However, her fabulous Texas cousins, Bill and Sunnie, Thad, Melanie, Sarah and Miranda; along with those pie-loving cadre of cousins in Conneaut, Ohio, proved through their actions and abundant love that quality beats quantity every time.
A funeral service honoring the life of Patti Putnicki will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy. in Plano, with Patti’s favorite priest and friend, Father Bruce Bradley as celebrant. Funeral Mass will be lived streamed at the following link: https://youtube.com/live/ZH4RAAGIH6I?feature=share

Elizabeth better known as “Dolly” Cravens was born on May 21, 1930, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Harry C. and Rita Langdon. Dolly had one brother, Jack who was older than she and he was her best friend for many years due to the fact her father and mother came to the United States in 1935 where their family traveled all over the United States due to her father’s trade of photography.
She told stories of her life growing up and what an adventure it was, for they traveled in a custom car with a custom photography trailer pulled behind and of course with a dog named “Guy” who she referred to as a “German Police Dog”. She always talked about the towns and places she had seen and each time they were entering a town how the bright lights were always so exciting and beautiful. She wanted to travel all the time and when her father wanted to stop, she would beg him to continue on. She was so very close to her mother, Rita, and their adventures were shared together.
In 1951 she and her mother, Rita moved to Longview, Texas and rented a home from the Catholic Church and this is where she met her love of her life, James Cravens, to whom she married on September 17, 1955. They had four children, Michael John, Rita Doretta, John “Jack” Carl, and Christopher James. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Dolly was very intelligent and always told her children she did not like to read novels and fiction due to the fact she wanted to keep up with the newest information regarding medical science. She loved medicine! She was so devoted to raising her four children and was a stay-at-home mom who volunteered to teach Physical Education at the Catholic School. She also volunteered for many other jobs in her life such as the annual Enchilada Roll to help raise funds for the school and church, others were volunteering time at both the local hospitals and Red Cross. She worked as a para legal with many attorneys and even in the District Attorney’s Office in Gregg County. She loved the legal field, and it was there she made a difference in so many lives.
After retiring from the legal field, she needed another adventure and opened “Dolly’s Tea Room” in the Victorian Home of the Cravens Family, which served amazing food. Dolly’s Tea Room kept the whole family involved and there were many people who enjoyed the cuisine, especially on Sundays.
Dolly did not meet a stranger and every person she met would remember her, by her stories, kind and gentle heart, laughter and the beauty she projected. If you ever met Dolly, you would never forget her.
Dolly is survived by her husband, James Cravens, children Mike and his wife Bettye, Rita, Jack and his wife Joyce, Chris and his wife Doris; four grandchildren, Brian Fyffe, Kristin Smith and her husband Quadry, Reagan Cravens, Coleman Cravens, and Jeffrey Porter and his wife Dani; great grandchildren, Dakota Corrin, Khloe Corrin, Laura Corrin, and Beau Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Jack Langdon.
With deep felt gratitude to Fr. Bruce Bradley for his visits and attention to Dolly at the end of her life. Many thanks to Holy Savior Hospice for their support and care of Dolly.

John Pisciotta, a devoted husband, loving father, brother, and cherished papaw, passed away on September 8th, 2023, at the age of 78. Known as “JJ” to all his friends and family, he leaves behind a legacy of love, family, laughter, and beloved memories.
He was born on July 6, 1945, to Alexander and Mathilde Pisciotta in the small town of Leonville, Louisiana. While working in his family’s gas stations in Irving, Texas is where he developed his love for fast cars and a strong work ethic. He attended Jesuit Preparatory Academy and eventually graduated from Irving High School in 1963. John was a true businessman with passions ranging from snow cone stands, sales, home renovations and repairs. He was also a true hard worker who enjoyed the finer things in life that he would call good whiskey, a Cuban cigar, and a hot blackjack table.
In 1976 he met the greatest love of his life and best friend, Sharon James Pisciotta. Their enduring love story spanned 45 remarkable years filled with cherished memories, trips to Vegas, and endless laughter. John and Sharon showed everyone, especially their children, what true love and partnership really looked like. They taught them that hard work, patience, selflessness, and respect are not only important, but necessary, for a happy marriage and a happy family.
John's other greatest love was golf. He had a true golfer's spirit, finding peace and joy on the greens. Whether it was just 18 holes or just chipping balls with friends and grandkids he enjoyed every minute of the comradery that golf brought him. On February 9, 2016, he achieved the biggest bucket list item of his life by hitting a hole in one.
Johns’ true passion though was being a granddad and a family man. He never missed a football game, performance, cheer competition, or any event for his grandchildren. Even though he was the biggest food critic, Pina Colada Slurpee’s and Taco Delight were a fan favorite of his as well as many other sweet treats that he enjoyed with his grandchildren. He made it a point to be involved in his children and grandchildren’s life. It was always his passion to instill integrity in his family. He advised, mentored, and most of all loved each one of his children and grandchildren.
JJ was a hero to us all in several different ways, and will be dearly missed by so many, but we are all better because he was in our life. He was a tremendous father, husband, friend, papaw, and brother whose caring heart, quick wit, and sarcastic humor will be remembered forever.

Rita Anne Paglia Turner
April 21, 1944-July 4, 2023
Rita Anne Turner, 79, of Plano, Texas passed away on July 4, 2023 at Cottages of Chapel Creek in Frisco, Texas. She valiantly fought a 15-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease with such fortitude. All that knew her regarded her as one of the strongest people they knew due to her incredible spirit and determination.
Rita was born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, but grew up in California, Pennsylvania where she would share many adventures in her Italian household with her older brother, Ron, younger sister, Carol, and younger brother, Rick. I have been told stories of her swallowing a quarter and jumping off a shed and splitting open her tongue. After surviving her childhood, Rita attended California State College which was in her hometown. She graduated in 1966 earning a degree in Education. If becoming an elementary school teacher wasn’t crazy enough, Rita moved to Anchorage, Alaska where she married Will Turner. Her adventures continued as she taught at Mountain View Elementary School, hiked over glaciers, cross-country skied, panned for gold, and steered clear of wild moose. Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, she also earned her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Alaska.
Rita received news that her adventures were taking a new path to the great state of Texas. I recall her telling how she arrived in Dallas, Texas while 7 months pregnant, in the middle of the summer wearing her Alaskan fur coat and mukluks. She quickly learned those items were no longer needed and would be packed away with her skis. Rita continued teaching elementary school in Plano ISD while raising two children, a daughter, Lisa, and a son, Michael. Eventually, she took a great interest in learning technology. She accepted a position with the Plano ISD administration where she taught teachers how to use new technology in their classrooms.
Rita was a huge sports enthusiast and supported all the Dallas teams- Cowboys, Mavericks, Rangers, and Stars. If you knew Rita well enough, you knew not to call, stop by, or plan anything during a Dallas Cowboys football game. Her other favorites in life were all her fur babies. They were so blessed to be loved by my mom because she poured her heart into every doggie she ever had. Buff, Biskit, Katie, and Maggie- she is home with you.
But there was absolutely nothing more important to Rita than her family! She went above and beyond for her children, but her grandchildren were spoiled rotten. Every bit of free time she had was spent taking her grandchildren to fun places, baking brownies with them, and playing with them at her neighborhood park. She was their loudest and proudest cheerleader on the sidelines at their games. It’s no wonder that when their grandma struggled over the last several years her grandchildren did just what she did for them- be there. They lifted her spirits in difficult times, they physically carried her when she could not move, they fed her, wiped her tears, laughed with her, and loved her. We love and miss her dearly, but we will carry on her legacy of strength, courage, hope, and faith.
Rita was predeceased by her parents, Iole and Giglio F. Paglia.
Rita will be lovingly remembered by her children, Lisa Russolillo (Stefano), Michael Turner (Magda); grandchildren Nico, Caterina, Alessio, Massimo, and Danilo Russolillo, Alexa Kardos (Daniel); great-grandson Holden Kardos; siblings Ron Paglia (Judy), Carol Kaufmann (Rick), Richard P. Paglia; numerous nieces and nephews and life-long friends that have shared some of the greatest adventures with Rita.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate the life of Rita at a Funeral Mass that will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, TX 75023. John "Jack" Patrick Stutler
January 16, 1935- July 28, 2023
John Patrick Stutler, “Jack,” passed away on July 28, 2023, in Plano, Texas at the age of 88. He was born to Edward and Eileen (Warwood) Stutler on January 16, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio and was raised in Fort Wright, Kentucky. Along his journey he also resided in Dayton, Ann Arbor, San Antonio and Plano.
Jack was an only child but soon made close friends through his life-long love of sports. At a young age he was walking a mile each day to spend hours playing basketball or baseball with those friends. Determined to attend St. Xavier High School, Jack paid his own way. There he was a three letter man at football, basketball and baseball. Jack was forever an enthusiastic X High Bomber, loyally following the school’s sports exploits.
After graduating from Xavier University, Jack embarked on a career that included being a computer programmer in the early days of the industry. He eventually led organizations to train programmers. In later years, Jack became a very successful investor. He volunteered at a free medical clinic and was the commissioner of a youth baseball league.
Jack loved playing sports and passed that along to his children: hitting fly balls to them, playing driveway basketball, quarterbacking offense/defense football, tennis, sailing, racquetball and golf. His kids talked with him often and besides discussing his grandchildren, he wanted to talk about your latest competitive sports outing, golf, tennis or whatever. He had a kid’s enthusiasm and an athlete’s competitive spirit for sports.
In their retirement, Carol and Jack traveled to Spain, Hawaii and to visit the many weddings and events that come with a large family. Jack was a devout Catholic and lived a Christian life. He was very much a family man.
We are so sad to have him leave us and also are so very happy and feel so blessed to have had him in our lives.
Jack is survived by his wife Carol of Plano, Texas; sons, Paul (Tonia Teasley) of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Mark (Gabriella) of Cincinnati, Ohio, David (Ann) of Park Hills, Kentucky, Luke (Jenny) of McKinney, Texas, and Kevin (Pam) of Frisco, Texas; daughter, Eileen Cole (David) of Mount Prospect, Illinois; 20 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Eileen Stutler, and wife Eva.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023, at 11am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023.

Rose Mary McManaman
December 10, 1930 - July 15, 2023
With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved grandmother, Rosemary McManaman. Surrounded by the love of her family, she joined her heavenly Father at 92 years old, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion that will forever inspire us.
Rosemary's life journey began in the quaint town of Macy, Nebraska, where she was born in 1930 as one of thirteen children. Growing up in a large and loving family instilled in her a deep appreciation for the bonds of kinship, and she carried that sense of closeness with her throughout her life.
In her youth, Rosemary met the love of her life, Leonard McManaman. United in marriage, they embarked on a beautiful journey together, settling in Dallas to build their home and raise their children. Their love and devotion to each other served as an enduring example to all who knew them.
As a devout Catholic, Rosemary's faith was at the core of her being. She was an active and cherished member of her local parish, where she found solace, guidance, and community. Her unwavering belief in the power of prayer and her deep reverence for God were evident in the way she lived her life with kindness, compassion, and selflessness.
Rosemary's family was the center of her world. She embraced the roles of wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with boundless love and dedication. Her daughter, Angela, and son, Daniel, were the pride of her life, and she poured her heart into nurturing and supporting them. As a grandmother, she delighted in showering her grandchildren with affection and wisdom, leaving an indelible impact on each of their lives.
Rosemary possessed a generous spirit and a warm, welcoming nature that drew people to her. Her home was a place of comfort and hospitality, where loved ones always found a listening ear and a comforting embrace. Her culinary skills, steeped in family tradition, brought joy to countless gatherings and celebrations.
Aside from her family, Rosemary was a friend to many, offering a compassionate ear and sage advice to those in need. Her genuine care for others extended beyond her immediate circle, as she engaged in various charitable endeavors, extending a helping hand to those less fortunate.
As we gather to celebrate the life of Rosemary McManaman, we find solace in the cherished memories we shared with her. Her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Angela; as well as five grandchildren, Leonard, Michael, Jennifer, Kyle and Andrew. She was a great-grandmother to Chase, Paige, Ava, Emma, Nikolai, John, Harper and Kellin. Whose lives were forever enriched by her presence.

James Patrick Casey
September 23, 1926 -June 5, 2023
James P. Casey passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 5, 2023. Preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Vilma "Toots" Casey who passed away in 1987, and their oldest daughter, Dona de Garcia who passed away in August 2022. He will be missed especially by his son, James P. Casey II (Jimmie), his daughters: Patty (Trish) & Kathy (husband Henry) Wall who inherited his quick wit, love of music, people and the ability to define a situation as "Bull ***t". The West Coast Casey's - his brother John (Jack) & wife, Jamie, his nephew Danny, his wife Nicole, and great niece & nephew- Sophie & Noah Casey have lost a good brother & kind Uncle whose love for them will never end. His 6 adult grandchildren; Natalie Esparza, Daniel Patrick Garcia, James Garcia, Greg Garcia, Michael Serrioz & Rebecca Angelo will especially feel his absence at the holidays. Their "Boompah" loved to give & share all he had with them - not only gifts like Morgan Silver Dollars; but his excitement in introducing them to new foods he learned to prepare by watching Jacques Pepin - such as beef Wellington, Cornish hens, prime rib & grilled oysters. These dinners were only surpassed by the desserts of something chocolate & usually a pound cake, with long conversations into the night about our lives, loves and the retelling of funny family events & memorable times with grandparents, aunts, uncles & friends. One of the favorite stories & its retelling is how proud Jim was of his Irish heritage.
He & Toots went to Ireland & Scotland. While visiting Aunt Elizabeth in Scotland, Aunt Elizabeth asked, "why would Jimmy look for relatives in Ireland? He is Scottish!" His 5 great grandchildren, Abel & Eli Esparza, Anthony & Luca Angelo; Milo & new baby brother Serrioz will know his love through the stories shared again and again at lingering meals around the family table. They will be reminded how Boompah often told his children as he held his hand out, palm up & open, fingers stretched wide, "this is how you love....then he would make a fist & say, "not like this!" As part of the greatest generation, "Jim" joined the Navy in 1944 to fight in WWII, (he hadn't even finished high school!). He became a signalman on the destroyer escort USS Kyne, and troop transport ship the USS Hanover, as part of the Pacific Fleet, Transport Squadron Seventeen. He was honorably discharged in June of 1946. His photo album from his Navy years is an exceptional collection of his World War II experiences. After the war, Jim returned to New York City, where he lived with his mom, Mary, Gerald (Pop) O'Callaghan and his brothers, Andy Billy and Jack. He completed his GED and married Toots (Vilma) Kohler, in 1952. They began their love story in their little attic apartment in New York City.
In supporting his beloved family, Jim's many jobs brought him South, moving to Donelson, TN as a sales rep. Jim did construction work on the J. Percy Priest Dam in Nashville. He was even a milkman. He found his true calling, as a salesman; a greeting card rep for Buzza Cardoza in Nashville, advanced to regional manager and transferred to Stone Mountain, GA; became district sales manager for Fannie Farmer chocolates - oh those candy conventions! As a sales rep for Gibson Greeting Card Company, he was transferred to Houston TX in1972; in 1974 finally to Plano, TX working for Borden/Cracker Jack. Legendary parties were hosted and attended by a large group of Toots & Jim's friends and their children for any and all holidays. Some gatherings included impromptu parades! He retired from his successful career as a national sales manager for F&F Laboratories in 1992. In retirement Jim enjoyed playing golf- especially with his brothers, Andy & Jack and sister-in-law, Jamie. They played not only in Texas but in California, Seattle, Arizona, Michigan & Costa Rica.
He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all who experienced his friendship and generosity. A Mass celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano, TX 75023 at 12:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed at the following link: https://youtube.com/live/w9IS875Pv5k?feature=share Afterwards please join us for a toast and celebration of Jim's life at 12405 Chattanooga Dr., Frisco, TX 75035. Frank Anthony Pellicone
July 9, 1930—February 24, 2023
Frank was born in Brooklyn, NY to Mary (Ippolito) and Michael Pellicone, who immigrated from Italy. He only learned to speak English when he attended school. The oldest of three boys, Frank’s mother supported the family as a seamstress after his father passed when Frank was only 14.
He enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War as a Radio Operator stationed at Johnson Island in the Pacific. He returned from his tour of service, settled back in Brooklyn, and met the love of his life: Theresa Romano. The two wed on October 9, 1955. They went on to raise two sons, Michael and Frank, Jr., in North Babylon, NY.
Frank worked as an insurance investigator well into his seventies. In 2004, he and Theresa moved to Plano, TX to be near their four grandchildren. They enjoyed many years attending their grandchildren’s softball, baseball and volleyball games, and many recitals, musicals, and theatrical performances.
When Theresa passed away in May 2010, Frank adjusted to his more solitary life. He discovered his next act at The Conservatory in Plano where he was surrounded by a new posse of friends. He reveled in his weekly Tuesday Happy Hour. Frank had an incredible memory and talent for telling jokes, which, combined with his sunny disposition and winning smile, made him a joy to be around. These gestures included regularly sending care packages full of frying pans, potholders and gadgets to her sons and daughters to ensure they were sufficiently well equipped in the kitchen. She is also remembered for her world-class collections of mortars and pestles and of nutcrackers.

Claire Dorothy Franz
May 11, 1930 - March 3, 2023
Our precious mother, Claire Dorothy Franz, 92, died on March 3, 2023 peacefully in her sleep. She was born on May 11, 1930, in Queens, New York. After high school, she worked as administrative assistant for Jefferson Chemical in the Empire State Building. She always talked fondly of how much fun she had with her friends in “the city”.
She married Gordon Franz in 1955 who was an Officer in the US Air Force. She spent the next 20 years of her life traveling and re-locating to multiple air force bases in the United States and in Turkey. Both of her boys were born during this time so her focus was on raising them and providing love and stability while Gordon was on active duty. She embraced her role as an Officers wife and even was President of the Officers Wives Club for two years. As much as she loved the military life, she was thrilled when they were able to finally settle at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, La. She loved being a homemaker and raising her two boys, attending countless sporting events to watch them play. She was a devout Catholic and active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Shreveport, until she moved to Texas in 2014 to be near her sons and grandchildren.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved fiercely and found so much joy in her family. She will be missed but we are so thankful she is at peace and reunited with her husband, Gordon, her brother and sister in law(Jack and Joan Meegan), her sister, Dorothy and her nephew, Jackie Meegan.
She is survived by her sons, Mike(Clara) of McKinney, TX and Pat(Becky) Plano, TX. Her grandchildren, Luke Franz(Logan) and Shelby Franz Robbins(Travis) and great grandson, Bishop and multiple niece’s and nephews in New York.
She asked that no one cry tears of sadness for her but rejoice in knowing that she is in heaven and said on more than one occasion, “just have a drink and a laugh when thinking about me.”
Please join us for her Funeral Mass on Tuesday, March 7th at 9:30am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Formation Center chapel, 3100 West Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023 (Faith Formation Center).
Following the funeral Mass, we will take her to Louisiana be buried next to her beloved Gordon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton new building fund at setonparish.org. St. Elizabeth was special to Claire as she saw her grandchildren’s first communions and confirmations, her granddaughters wedding and spent multiple Christmas Eve Masses.
Hendry Gunawan
May 6, 1939 - February 3, 2023
Hendry Gunawan passed away at his nursing home in Plano at 2 PM on February 3, 2023. He was 83. Hendry had suffered from dementia in the last 2 years, and after several months of declining health, he died peacefully with his beloved wife, Muliawati, and two of his children, John and Dessy, by his side. His oldest daughter, Yuli, joined them through Facetime video from Indonesia.
Hendry was born in Padang, Indonesia, on May 6, 1939, the second son of Tjia Wie Kiat (father) and So Giok Loei Nio (mother). He had five siblings and seven stepsiblings from his father’s previous marriage. Hendry was known as a generous, hardworking, trustworthy, light-hearted, and compassionate soul. He loved the simple things in life, and his family was the center of his life.
Hendry didn’t have much opportunity to pursue the formal education. After graduating from the Chinese Secondary School, he took care of the family’s store with his older brother and worked in it for more than 15 years. Despite of that, Hendry was a skilled basketball player in his prime age. In 1957, Hendry and his basketball team were chosen to represent his hometown, Padang, in the national level (PON IV in Makassar).
Hendry met his wife through his sister, Maria Pratiwi. They got married on November 3, 1967, and were blessed with three children. A few years later he opened his own store. Hendry and Muliawati grew the business exponentially, and they opened the second store. In 1985, Hendry and Muliawati transitioned to the restaurant business which they worked on for more than 15 years. Once all of his children graduated from college and got a job in Jakarta, Hendry and Muliawati retired and moved to the same city to be united with their children.
In 2007 Hendry and Muliawati moved to Texas where they had been living with his youngest daughter, Dessy Prawoto, ever since. Hendry was diagnosed with dementia in early 2021. His disease progressed very fast, and it was difficult to keep him safe at home. So, Hendry moved to a nursing home in June 2022 and stayed there until his last day.
Hendry had many skills and talents. He was handy doing and fixing things. He could turn junks into something useful around the house, and unlike the people today, he did it without the help of YouTube videos. Hendry was also always delighted when someone asked for his help. He would go to great lengths to help another person.
Hendry was a man of integrity, dedicated to his family, and also a loving and caring “Opa” (as his grandkids called him). He spoiled all his grandkids, especially when they were little. He enjoyed taking care of all of them, playing with them for hours, and driving them to the park and any places that they wanted to go. All his grandchildren, nieces, and nephew adored him.
Hendry was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Yusuf Arif, his youngest sister, Elizabeth Pratiwi, and all of his step siblings. He is survived by his wife, Muliawati Gunawan; his children and son/daughter in law, Yulianty Gunawan and Adreanus Iwan, Desrianty (Dessy) Gunawan and Trubus Prawoto, and John Irwin Gunawan and Ewina Gunawan; his sisters Susana Pratiwi and Maria Pratiwi; and his grandchildren Jonathan Prawoto, Valencia Agatha, Christopher Hansel, Phoebe and Maggie Gunawan, Kaylee and Trisha Prawoto, and his cousins, nieces, and nephews that he loved dearly.
A viewing for the immediate family only and the rite of committal by Fr. Tuan Le will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 10 AM, followed by the cremation at Metro Mortuary and Cremation, 6804 S. State Hwy 78, Sachse, TX.
A rosary prayer and Funeral Mass will be held in his honor at the Parish Hall of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, TX 75023 on Saturday, February 25, 2023. The rosary prayer will be at 10:30 AM, and the Mass will follow at 11:00 AM. Fr. Tuan Le will be officiating. The funeral Mass will be live streamed at the following link: https://bit.ly/3Kn4m23
The inurnment will be held at St. Joseph Columbarium, 600 S Jupiter Rd, Richardson, TX 75081 at 4 PM on the same day, officiated by Deacon Michael.
Hendry’s family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for all the prayers, visitations, and many other acts of kindness shown during the time of his illness and mourning. Many thanks, too, to all the staff at Collinwood Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care during the last eight months of Hendry’s life, and to Heart To Heart Hospice for providing the needed medical, emotional, and spiritual supports.
Clare Grubbs
October 29, 1941 - February 15, 2023
Clare Grubbs was born Mary Clarice Kollenberg — the first child of Conrad “Connie” and Bonnie Kollenberg — on October 29, 1941, in Goose Creek, Texas (now Baytown). She passed away peacefully the night of Valentine’s Day, 2023, ending her brave battle with Alzheimer’s disease as gracefully as she lived.
Clare spent most of her childhood in Texas, and she met her husband, Gordon, at Rice University in Houston in 1959. She was a freshman, he a sophomore, and theirs was a love destined to last more than 60 years. They married on August 26, 1962, as she was beginning her senior year. And in 1963, Clare graduated with her bachelor’s degree in economics. That same year, she and Gordon also welcomed the first of their four children.
As the eldest daughter of six siblings, Clare had grown up caring for her siblings, and this was truly her God-given calling. She treasured her roles as a wife and mother and approached both with unwavering love and commitment — trusting God to help her as she navigated life’s inevitable ups and downs. The loss of this amazing woman is being felt deeply by her husband, Gordon, and four children: Ann Meeks and husband, Kent; Mary Gerush and husband, Jon; Ellen Haster; and Michael Grubbs and wife, Kelli.
Her loving influence can be seen by spending time with any of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Kevin Meeks; Kelsey Forsberg, husband, Phillip, and sons Kent and Miles; Jason Meeks, wife, Whitney, and children, Ethan, Collin, and Maggie; Kristen Ortolani, husband, Mitchel, and son, Levi; Allison Gerush; Christopher Haster; Taylor Haster and partner, Esteban Ortiz; Carey Haster and fiancée, Christian Turbeville; James Grubbs, wife, Lyndi, and daughter, Leah; Jonathan Grubbs and partner, Emily Joslin; Nicholas Grubbs; David Grubbs; Claire Wimberly; Hannah Wimberly-Salchak and husband, Andy; and Emma Wimberly.
Clare was also a devoted daughter and sister and a grounding force that connected the larger Kollenberg family — a host of sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, children, and grandchildren that gathered often to celebrate. She was loved and will be missed greatly by her siblings and their families: Ann Neyland Hurt and husband, Jack; Henry Kollenberg and wife, Chris; and Debbie Walker and husband, Ross. She will rejoin in heaven her parents, Connie and Bonnie Kollenberg, and brothers, Charles and Bobby Kollenberg.
Simply put, Clare had a big, caring, generous heart. If you were not blessed enough to be family, you know that she never hesitated to share that heart with anyone who needed a warm shoulder to cry on, a safe place to rest, or a friendly smile and heartfelt laugh to pick them up. Strangers became friends, and friends became family. Everyone mattered, and she made sure we all knew that.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 24, 2023 at 2:00 pm CT at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with a reception to follow immediately after service. If you wish to join the service via webcast, please visit: https://youtube.com/live/QfNPP2wf2m0?feature=share

Anthony Dueitt Powers
March 6, 1965 - January 27, 2023
David Anthony Dueitt Powers was born on March 6, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois to parents Dalton and Jacqueline (Wolf) Dueitt. We lost Anthony peacefully and at home in the early morning hours of January 27, 2023, after battling Chronic Long Covid for over two years.
Anthony grew up in Mississippi with his younger brother, Danny, and twin younger sisters Debra and Deanna. He graduated from Our Lady of Victories (OLV) high school in 1983, then went on to many years in college. He graduated from Mississippi State University with degrees in Philosophy, Psychology and Industrial Psychology, finishing in 1995. While in college, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and is still a fan of the Bulldogs.
He started his career in the world of staffing and recruiting in 1996 after moving to Dallas. His natural ability to connect with people and his loyalty helped him stand out in his field. He worked for a variety of companies, often taking coworkers with him from organization to organization. In 2011 he accepted a position with Google that had the family move to Sunnyvale, California. They spent 3 years there until a position with Yahoo allowed them to move back to Plano. He joined the Amazon family in 2016 and was on short-term disability with them at the time of his passing.
Anthony met Ron-Michael Powers in April of 2001. By that July they were engaged and had a civil union ceremony in Vermont on October 12, 2002. Once the rest of the country caught up, they had a legal wedding ceremony in Dallas on April 12, 2016, the 15th anniversary of their first date. Both Anthony and Ron-Michael were family oriented, which is why after extensive research, they set out on the path for adoption. Their son, Nathaniel (Nathan) Rowe Dueitt Powers was born on October 15, 2004. They received his picture and information on October 15, and started working to bring him home. January 17, 2005, was his “Gotcha Day”, when Anthony and Ron-Michael were finally able to hold him in person and bring him home from Guatemala.
As a family, they were able to travel extensively, most recently spending three weeks in Europe visiting London, Scotland, Norway and Iceland. Their annual trips to South Padre Island were his rejuvenating respites from the stresses of work; but spending time with family and friends was always a priority. Even after Covid hit, setting up dinners in driveways with friends and neighbors, zoom chats with cousins, and game nights with family became mainstays.
Anthony is survived by his husband, Ron-Michael Powers and their son, Nathan. His parents, Dalton and Jacqueline Dueitt, his brother Danny Dueitt, his sisters Deanna Aiken-Roskowske and Debra Rea and their extended families.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 10 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Faith Formation Center 3100 W Spring Creek Parkway, Monsignor Henry V. Petter, celebrant. If you wish to join the mass via webcast, please visit: https://youtube.com/live/ovXQOBObjvA?feature=share

James Presnall Newberry II
May 17, 1940 - January 4, 2023
James Presnall Newberry II was born May 17, 1940, in Washington D.C. to native Texans, Brigadier General James Presnall Newberry (USAF) and Patty Sims Newberry.
James, known as Jim or Captain Jim, had a love of travel and adventure early in life. Born to a military family that moved frequently, he would return to his grandfather’s farm every summer under the open skies of Bryan, Texas. He spoke of his life with great fondness. As a young boy, his family lived in many places, including Washington D.C., Alabama, Texas, Germany, and Panama. Consequently, he attended more schools than he could ever remember. Despite a lifetime full of travel, it was because of the close relationship with his grandfather, Milton Walker Sims, that he considered Texas his home.
He was appointed to United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland where many enduring friendships were formed. As a student in 1960, Jim attended the Army Navy game whereby a stroke of luck he met his lifelong love, Mary Jane. A wave and a wink are all it took to spark their courtship. Jim and Mary Jane were married the day after his graduation at the US Naval Academy Chapel on June 8, 1963. Jim was immediately commissioned and started his flying career in the United States Air Force and later with Delta Airlines for 31 years.
Upon his Delta career, Jim and Mary Jane settled in Dallas, Texas to raise a family. During their 52-year marriage, Jim was active in commitments both in and outside of the home. With an optimistic spirit and a contagious laugh, he wore many hats between flights. He was a storyteller, he coached children’s soccer teams, he raised cattle on his grandfather’s land, and he could fix almost anything. Jim was also an early adaptor of technology, which served as an invaluable tool for his family and his volunteer work.
As a devout Catholic, Jim was active in the church choir and was dedicated to serve others. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and recently was described as “a man that would always show up” and would “never say no”. For over four decades, he raised money for countless charities and organizations; including Wadley Hospital, St. Rita Catholic Church, All Saints Catholic Church, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. At Wadley Hospital, he and Mary Jane helped raise money for Leukemia and created elaborate decorations for charitable events. Most recently at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Jim and Mary Jane started and led the Lenten Fish Fry for 11 years. Jim’s dedication and spirit were always present, making friends wherever he went.
His flying career took his family across the world on countless adventures. Mary Jane accompanied Jim on his flights to every major city in the US and Europe. He would often say, the closest thing to flying was sailing, and voyaged throughout the Mediterranean, Caribbean and South Pacific. He taught his daughters the love of travel not only by air, but by sea. After Jim retired, they bought a boat and created their own adventures on Lake Lewisville where he lived up to his reputation of Captain Jim.
Over the years Jim and Mary Jane adopted three families as their own who referred to him as Gramps: Jack and Lisa Theis, and children JT, Jake, Catherine, and Christina; Thuy Thai and daughter Daphne; Randy and Karen Markum, and daughter Paige.
On January 4, 2023, at the age of 82, Jim grew his own wings and took flight to be with his beloved wife Mary Jane, where he can continue his adventures. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Ann Newberry and Julie Sims Newberry; grandchildren Jenna Sims Newberry and Presnall Sims Newberry. He will be profoundly missed by so many. His joy of life and laughter will never be forgotten.
The family asks that donations be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the name of James Presnall Newberry II.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano, Texas 75023 on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow.

Jennifer (Jenny) Scott
May 1, 1969 - January 13, 2023
Jennifer (Jenny) Louise Scott was born on May 1, 1969, in Chula Vista, California to proud parents Ronald and Joan Scott.
She was a generous and loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Jenny passed away on January 13, 2023, at the age of 53; after a lifelong struggle with muscular dystrophy which left her unable to combat a severe case of pneumonia. She was at home surrounded by loved ones on her final day.
Her family moved to Plano, Texas in 1974 when her dad relocated for work with IBM. Jenny was the oldest of three sisters and she handled the duty with grace and love. Because of the example she set, she and her sisters had a very strong bond. Along with their parents, the three sisters explored the country in their camper during summer vacations.
Traveling with family and friends was something Jenny loved and continued to do throughout her years. She graduated from Plano Senior High in 1987. While in high school, Jenny met her best friend, Matt Minick. They kept a special friendship over the past 37 years. When the two of them were together there was always laughter.
After graduating from high school, she obtained her associates degree in business and she spent the early years of her career as a proposal coordinator at EDS in Piano, Texas.
While working as a young professional Jenny sought support for a stutter that she developed in middle school. She became an active member of the National Stutters Association. Within this organization she was able to let her guard down and be herself. She made many strong friendships with the community and traveled annually to their national conferences around the United States.
Jenny also joined the Jazzercise craze in the late 90’s and never looked back. She attended classes three times a week for most of her adult life. Most recently, she took classes at the Carpenter Recreation Center where she developed lifelong friendships with her instructor and classmates.
When Jenny’s legs got weaker and it was hard for her to walk, she would still get herself to class every week and as the MD progressed, she found it necessary to transition to part-time employment.
She joined Market Street as a cashier at Waters Crossing in Allen, Texas. She was a beloved member of the team and enjoyed interacting with customers. Because of her cheerful smile and laughter, she was a favorite among the regular shoppers.
When Jenny was no longer able to work, she spent her time with family and friends. She was the proud aunt to Garin, Hatcher, Brooke, and Parker. She loved them as if they were her own children. Always celebrating their accomplishments and showering them with her endless love. She loved participating in their games and accepting the annual challenge of completing jigsaw puzzles with them. But Jenny’s favorite person in the world was her mother, with whom she had spent every day in her life with. They enjoyed traveling together and more recently just having daily outings around town. Jenny was a treasure in this world and had an uncanny ability to find happiness in everyday activities. Her sweet, funny and friendly personality was contagious to everyone she met. She will be greatly missed.
Jenny is survived by her mother, Joan Scott; sisters Samantha Varjian and her husband Richard and Kelly Morris and her husband Michael; nieces and nephews Garin Varjian, Hatcher, Brooke and Parker Morris. She was preceded in death by her father Ronald Scott.
